In a freewheeling discussion at New York Comic Con, co-creator Seth Green and several members of the Robot Chicken family met with fans to talk about ... well, pretty much whatever they wanted. Writer/actors Dan Milano and Kevin Shinick and actress Clare Grant joined Green on stage, along with special guests Macaulay Culkin and Trick or Treat director Michael Dougherty.

The panel kicked off with a video of highlights from Season 6 showing several minutes of very nasty things happening to toys, before building to the big reveal. The season finale will — "in order to save our show ... in order to appease the gods" — feature Zombie Joss Whedon. "It's a role I've been playing for years," the filmmaker said on the video.

Following the clip reel, Green began the panel by announcing that Adult Swim has renewed the series for a seventh season.

He then noted a change in the regular Robot Chicken convention programming. "This has traditionally been the gathering of the silly-hat gang," he said. "As you have noticed, we are without silly hats." Green told the audience they had packed "a bag full of hats" but "we ran out of the house without the bag."

After his introductory comments, Green immediately opened the floor to questions. The first was "What would be your ideal celebrity threesome?" which set the tone for the rest of the presentation

"I'd like to hit Leonardo and Voltron," Grant said. Green chose Black Cat and Jean Grey (later Grant, who is Green's wife, took a photo of him with Black Cat and Jean Grey cosplayers). Doughterty, escalating the discussion just a little, said he'd want "Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, just to see how it works." Culkin then made some noises suggesting how it would work, and selected She-Ra and Princess Leia for himself.

"Princess Leia is at this con," Green interjected. "And I bet you could find a willing She-Ra."

Shinick completed the round by choosing Culkin and Green, but the latter suggested he should think of "something that hasn't happened."

The next question was "Who is your gay celebrity crush?" After some back and forth about the question's syntax, Dougherty asked, "When did this become a People magazine panel?"

Gossip items aside, there were a few questions as to why Robot Chicken hasn’t done sketches on various topics. The answer generally came down to, "because no one's pitched it yet." For Mass Effect, though, Green said the reason is that Shinick hasn't played the game, prompting a few shouts from the crowd.

Asked why Robot Chicken hasn’t released more toys, Green said "it's hard because there are only certain toys we can make." He said he had approached Hasbro about creating Apocalypse Ponies, but "I can only say they're not wrong for the reasons they don't want to do them." Green added, though, that "anybody can customize."

One fan wanted to know how Robot Chicken draws such high-profile guest stars, and Green explained that although they can't offer much money, "mostly we ask and people just want to play with us." He was proud to have recruited Alfred Molina and Paul Reubens, as well as RZA as "a really passionate pescetarian" and "50 Cent to do a duet with Parappa the Rapper."

Asked about another season of Titan Maximum, Green said there had actually been talk of a special. In a similar vein, he's open to doing more episode-length sketches on Robot Chicken. "The DC one worked really well,” he said. “We're talking about doing a second one."

Picking up a thread from early in the panel, a fan asked for the participants to "describe your sex lives in three Pokemon moves." They didn’t take the bait.

The end-of-season jokes about cancellation serve a very practical purpose, Green explained in response to a fan question. "When we did it the first time, we didn't expect to have a second season," he said. "It seemed like a safe out. And if it ever comes true, we'll look smart."
