BBC America have released a further "sneak peek" at its new original series "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" at New York Comic Con.

Adapted by Max Landis from the novels of Douglas Adams, the event series stars Samuel Barnett as the unconventional detective Dirk Gently and Elijah Wood as his somewhat-reluctant assistant Todd Brotzman. Together, the pair attempt to solve metaphysical mysteries.

The clip shows Dirk breaking into Todd's apartment and then attempting to recruit him as an assistant in order to sleep on Todd's couch.

This is not the first time the BBC has adapted Douglas Adams' "Dirk Gently" novels: The broadcaster produced a radio play in 2007 starring British comedian Harry Enfield in the title role, and then a television series from 2010 to 2010 starring Stephen Mangan.

The novels have also been adapted as a comics series written by Chris Ryall and illustrated by Ilias Kyriazis and John Livesay, published by IDW.

Premiering Saturday, Oct. 22, on BBC America, "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" also stars Hannah Marks, Jade Eshete, Mpho Koaho, Fiona Dourif, Michael Eklund, Miguel Sandoval, Dustin Milligan, Aaron Douglas, Neil Brown Jr. and Richard Schiff.
