The revelation, came during a question-and-answer session at a panel for the upcoming vampires-vs.-werewolves film at the 2016 New York Comic Con, according to ComicBook.com.
When asked about the possibility of a movie match-up between characters from “Underworld” and “Blade,” Beckinsale said “No. We had that idea. No… They’re busy. They’re doing something with ‘Blade.'”
Marvel’s most prominent vampire hunter has not appeared on the big screen since 2004’s “Blade: Trinity,” which featured Wesley Snipes in the title role. However, the movie rights for the character returned to Marvel Studios in August 2012. Since then, Blade’s fate has been the subject of much heated fan speculation. Will the character make an entry into the company’s cinematic universe, or will he appear on one of its small-screen series, perhaps following a similar path to Ghost Rider on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?” Only an official announcement from Marvel will reveal the truth.
Meanwhile, fans of vampires and vampire-slaying will have to slake their thirsts for supernatural blood with Beckinsale’s “Underworld: Blood Wars.”
Directed by Anna Foerster, “Underworld: Blood Wars” also stars Theo James, Charles Dance, Tobias Menzies, Lara Pulver and James Faulkner. The film opens Jan. 6, 2017.
