Marvel Animation brought Avengers: Black Panther's QuestGuardians of the Galaxy and more to New York Comic Con for a slew of special previews and announcements. Led by Marvel Animation SVP Cort Lane, the panel offered an inside look at Black Panther's Quest with T'Challa himself James Mathis III, a brand new clip from the Guardians of the Galaxy series, the announcement of a LEGO Marvel Spider-Man special and more.

Asked to describe his character, Mathis said, "T'Challa is the king of kings, if you ask me. It's been an amazing experience... I appreciate his commitment to his family. I love that he is a very well-rounded man. He is very sharp intellectually. He likes to fight with his sister."

According to Mathis, T'Challa and Shuri have a fairly standard sibling relationship on the series. "She thinks she's king. She is very, very, very smart. It's much in the way that all siblings try to one-up each other," he shared.

"At episode 13, the show takes a shocking turn," Lane teased. "Some amazing things happen and some horrible things happen and then Black Panther goes on a quest where he gets to meet Black Panthers from the past." In fact, one of the first ancestors T'Challa meets will be the Black Panther at the time of World War II. This lays the groundwork for Arnim Zola, as voiced by Mark Hamill, to appear.

"He's searching for the king within and, to do that, he is conjuring up his ancestors. We dive into the family tree that exists between him and Shuri and their brother Hunter," Mathis explained.

After a short clip in which Black Panther and two Dora Milaje faced off against a robot force invading Wakanda, Lane turned his attention to the Guardians of the Galaxy animated series. "The Collector finally, truly gets his revenge on the Guardians," he revealed. The Collector will send each member of the team to a different dimension, all of which have unique animation styles. For instance, Gamora will end up in a Disney princess-like world.

In a clip from that scene, Gamora woke up in a homey cottage stuffed with beds surrounded by talking animals. She immediately demanded her blade so she could go find her friends. The animals, however, stalled her; they suggested she might be able to find it if she cleaned. Despite herself, she gave in and began to perform a few chores as the animals sang "The Whistling Song" -- a song which, as Gamora points out, does not actually feature any whistling at all. As she was busy performing these menial tasks, the animals smuggled her sword away without her notice.

"The evil demon bunny is played by Tara Strong," Lane shared. "This second half of the season premieres in May 2019. It's a bizarre, crazy, fun adventure."

Additionally, Lane announced more shorts for Marvel Super Hero Adventure, Marvel Animation's series geared toward preschool-age children. The first five episodes will drop on Disney Junior starting October 22, with another five to air at a later date.

To conclude, Lane unveiled a first look at LEGO Marvel Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom, "the first ever LEGO Spider-Man special." "We've done a bunch of LEGO specials, but this is a very special special," he shared. He revealed that the cast includes Robbie Daymond as Spider-Man/Peter Parker, Ben Pronsky as Venom, Josh Keaton as Green Goblin, Laura Bailey as Gwen Stacy/Ghost-Spider and Tara Strong as Mary Jane. The special will premiere in 2019.
