NYCC FIRST LOOK: Greg Pak’s “Vision Machine” iPad App

Two years ago, writer Greg Pak celebrated New York Comic Con by debuting his creative commons sci-fi comic “Vision Machine.” This year, he’s spreading the love in a digital way.

During this weekend’s show, Pak will debut the “Vision Machine” iPad app which will represent the comic drawn by artist R.B. Silva. Aside from presenting the full graphic novel in one fell swoop, the app is also enhanced with animation, a music and voice soundtrack and other interactive elements.

And while the app won’t get its full unveiling until Pak’s panel this Friday at 12:30 PM EST, the writer shared the trailer for “Vision Machine’s” next phase exclusively with CBR. Below, check out the full trailer:

When Pak first announced the series, he described it saying, “The project started with a conversation I had with Orlando Bagwell of the Ford Foundation, who had a vision of a comic book that could help independent mediamakers imagine the technological, social and political changes coming over the next fifty years. That was the kind of logline that set all my wheels spinning. I come out of independent film, I’m a sci fi nut,and I’ve been obsessed with digital technology since I got my hands on a digital camcorder in my last year of film school. I worked up an outline that Orlando dug, and two years later, here we are!”

For more on the app, fans attending New York Comic Con can make the “Debuting the Vision Machine iPad app” panel Friday at 12:30 in room 1A21.
