With the New York Comic Con coming up in a few short weeks, we’ll be collecting and posting information on the various things you can do and see while at the show. So this will be the first of many.
If you’re a publisher, creator, retailer or otherwise exhibiting at the show, feel free to drop me an email with your booth schedule, any comics you might be debuting, giveaways or any other information on what you have planned for the show.
• The Hero Initiative, the non-profit that provides a financial “safety net” for creators, will have George Perez at the booth (#1762) all weekend long.
They’re also hosting an art auction Saturday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in room 1A14:
Join Hero Initiative Chairman George Pérez for a GREAT art auction benefiting The Hero Initiative! Over 40 killer pieces are up for auction, including works from Joe Quesada, George Pérez, Darwyn Cooke, Jae Lee, John Romita Sr. and Jr., Steve Rude, Jim Starlin and ALL the Image Comics founders! Not to be missed!
They also plan to host a kickoff party Thursday night in conjunction with Reed Exhibits at Dave and Busters in Time Square, with additional details to be announced.
• David Gallaher, writer of High Moon, dropped me a note about his plans:
High Moon‘s Steve Ellis and I, along with Bobby and Peter Timony of Night Owls fame, will be manning the unofficial Zuda “satellite booth” [Booth 2340]. You will also find us signing and sketching up a storm at the DC Comics mega-booth (Booth 1641). So, come on by – and say ‘Hello!’
And, if you are looking for some awesome exclusive announcements, join us for our Zuda panel on Friday from 3:30-4:30 in Room 1A06.
I covered the Zuda panel in San Diego last year, and they’re a very enthusiastic and fun group of folks to spend some time with.
• Radical Publishing will attend the show for the first time:
In its debut appearance at the New York Comic-Con, Radical Publishing will feature daily raffles and signings at booth #1415 with a roster of special guests drawn from the top talent in the comics industry, including Jim Steranko, Arthur Suydam, Steve Niles, David Hine, Rick Remender and Steve Pugh. Fans who visit the Radical booth will find the company’s complete library of titles, including HOTWIRE: REQUIEM FOR THE DEAD #1, from Steve Pugh & Warren Ellis, and SHRAPNEL: ARISTEIA RISING #2, both released early exclusively for the show.
Also available will be a deluxe free preview book of Radical Publishing’s new 2009 titles, showcasing the work of such talents as Luis Royo, John Bolton, Clayton Crain, Nick Percival and Joseph Kosinski (director of the heavily anticipated upcoming Disney TRON sequel TR2N), in addition to the creators signing throughout the weekend at the Radical booth.
You can find their complete signing schedule here.
• And finally, Greg Rucka says he’ll be at the show, despite not being listed on their site yet.
