When you think of Marvel's Nova, Worldmind also comes to mind (pun not intended). The reverse is true as well. These two are a matched set for many Marvel fans out there, and with good reasons.

That being said, Worldmind is not as well known of a character as you might expect – not for some fans out there, at any rate. So today we're going to talk about Worldmind, and provide you ten essential facts to know about this powerful character.

10 Sentient Supercomputer

The Worldmind is an extremely complex and sentient supercomputer. What is more shocking about it is that the brains of deceased Xandarians are added to the collective, a practice that was ongoing until the destruction of their home planet.

It is one of the most intelligent computers in the universe, which is saying something within the Marvel universe, and as such has a duty to the Xandarians and their preservation.

9 Powers

The Worldmind has a variety of powers that come alongside its supreme intelligence. Alongside the Nova Force, which it is in charge of monitoring, the Worldmind has several other abilities. Namely, it has telepathy, giving it the ability to communicate with others, specifically the hosts of the Nova Force.

Additionally, Worldmind is adaptive, Omni-lingual, and has radar sense. All of these abilities were granted to help Worldmind keep Xandar and its history (and people) safe.

8 Thoran Rul

When people think of the Worldmind, odds are pretty good they likewise think of Nova, aka Richard Ryder. After all, he's the most famous host of the Worldmind. But he is not the only one though. Before Nova, there was Thoran Rul.

Later, Thoran Rul was forced to sacrifice himself in order to protect everything he cared for. As a way to commemorate the sacrifice, the Worldmind used Thoran Rul as a template for itself.

7 Deactivation

Annihilation Xandar's destruction Marvel

Something that all fans can agree on is that Xandar has not had a good run of luck. In both the MCU and the comics, Xandar has faced destruction. Most recently, when Xandar was destroyed, it set about the deactivation of the Worldmind.

After all, with Xandar destroyed most of the people went with it. The Worldmind was later turned back on, but only after the Nova Force was once again awakened (residing inside the body of one Richard Ryder).

6 Connected To The Nova Force

One of the Worldmind's major duties it to contain and control the Nova Force. When the Nova Force resides within only one person, the Worldmind can be found present there as well. Such as the case with Richard Ryder.

The Worldmind is also aware of this risk, and on more than one occasion has moved to spread the Nova Force out with the induction of more members to the corps, though admittedly that hasn't gone well every time.

5 One Lone Warrior

As mentioned above, there have been times when the Nova Force, and the Worldmind, all resided within one character. Richard Ryder was the only Nova Corps member to survive the Annihilation War, leaving him solely responsible for the force.

Had it been up to the Worldmind, the Nova Corps would have gone back up in numbers from that very moment, but instead, Nova became too focused on the many dangers and events happening around the universe.

4 Ability to Control Ryder

One thing the Worldmind has proven is its adaptability against stubborn characters. On at least one occasion the Worldmind took over Richard Ryder's body while the man slept. This caused no small amount of concern from those around him (namely Ryder's parents).

It is a little surprising that Worldmind didn't take more advantage of this ability, and thus fans are left to believe that it comes with great difficulty or cost.

3 Ko-Rel

For the longest time, the Worldmind was represented as Thoran Rul, but that all changed after it was forced to reboot. It then took the form of Ko-Rel, a Kree whom it had deputized in protecting Ryder during a vulnerable moment.

Ko-Rel gave her life protecting both the Worldmind and Ryder, and thus this way of honoring her was actually quite touching, though a bit alarming to Ryder at the time.

2 Reforming the Nova Corps

The Worldmind has constantly been pushing towards the reformation of the Nova Corps, with or without the support of its primary host. This has resulted in some awkward moments. Such as the time the Worldmind began deputizing corps members without telling Nova.

The Nova Corps grew dramatically in numbers, as that was the Worldmind's primary concern. Little thought was put into what type of person would make for a suitable corps member, and thus more dilemmas rose up later on.

1 Loss & Determination

The Worldmind has faced so much loss over its time in control of the Nova Force and heritage of the Xandarians. Yet it is still determined to keep on going, and to keep on making a difference in the universe.

On top of losing most of the Xandarians, the Worldmind has lost most (if not all) of the Nova Corps on more than one occasion. It has also faced – and survived - multiple bouts of corruption and attacks from the inside.
