AMC has signed new overall deals with The Walking Dead stars Normas Reedus and Melissa McBride.

The actors, who have played fan-favorite characters Daryl and Carol since the first season, will extend their roles for the next three seasons, and receive significant pay increases. The agreements would permit either actor to move from one Walking Dead property to another, much as Lennie James did when he left the main series and joined Fear the Walking Dead.

News of the contracts surfaces as star Andrew Lincoln departed the series with Sunday's episode, only to continue Rick Grimes' story in a newly announced trilogy of Walking Dead TV movies. Lauren Cohan, who has played Maggie since Season 2, also exited the series this week, at least for the time being.

Citing unnamed sources, The Hollywood Reporter contends Reedus will make $350,000, in addition to guarantees and advances that could be worth somewhere between $50 million to $90 million over three years. McBride, meanwhile, could make as much as $20 million over the duration of the contract.

The cable network is reportedly also trying to secure a new agreement with Michonne actor Danai Gurira, one of the breakout stars of the series. The Walking Dead Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple told the outlet that “we really want her to stay." "She is an incredibly valuable character and I'm really hoping she stays," he said. "Obviously, the lesson of [Andrew Lincoln] is that the show can survive anybody's departure if need be but that's not our goal. The goal is to have Danai continue on whatever basis she can make work, given the other things that she has going on in her life."

Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC, The Walking Dead stars Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
