Noelle Stevenson brought her popular fantasy webcomic Nimona to a close today after an acclaimed two-year run.

"Thank you all for coming this far with me!" the cartoonist wrote on her website. "It's been amazing journey. You've all been truly spectacular. I couldn't have asked for better readers."

Launched in June 2012, the comic follows a spirited young shapeshifter named Nimona who serves as the sidekick of the medieval supervillain Lord Ballister Blackheart. Stevenson, who co-writes BOOM! Studios' Lumberjanes, received a Harvey Award nomination and a Cartoonist Studio Prize for her work on Nimona.

As the cartoonist notes in her farewell message, this isn't quite the end of Nimona, however: HarperCollins will publish a collection in May featuring sketches, extra pages and an exclusive print-only epilogue.
