The sliding timeline of the Marvel Universe means that most of the X-Men, Avengers and other heroes will never reach the point where they could get old, settle down and have children . However, the size of the Marvel multiverse means there are plenty of alternate universes where those heroes get to have full lives and even have families of their own.

One such hero is even the bridge between her universe's Avengers and X-Men: Nocturne, the daughter of Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch. Although she originally appeared in as part of Jim Calafiore's entry in the X-Men: Millennial Visions anthology, Talia Wagner eventually joined the reality-hopping Exiles and spent some time in the main Marvel Universe.

WHO IS NOCTURNE?

On the world that Nocturne hails from, another 20 years have passed from the modern age. The situation for the X-Men has shifted incredibly during this time, with many classic members having died in the ensuing years. Wolverine was briefly possessed by Shadow King, who used his body to kill Charles Xavier. Xavier's dying mental blast paralyzed Logan, leaving him confined to a wheelchair and robotic exo-suit. Coupled with the death of Jean Grey, Cyclops snapped mentally and broke away from the X-Men, becoming the new leader of the Brotherhood, which included a version of Rogue who'd absorbed the powers of the Super-Skrull and been corrupted by his darker side.

Meanwhile, Nightcrawler took on a major role in the X-Men to make up for the loss of his friends. He also found love with Scarlet Witch, with the pair finding a lot of similarities between their nomadic roots.  The pair had a daughter named Talia. Otherwise known as TJ, Talia grew up in the shadow of both her parents - who each had taken larger roles in their respective superhero teams.  TJ was born with her father's blue color scheme as her skin color but lacked his signature teleporting powers. Instead, TJ gained the ability to possesses people by jumping into their bodies -- which then had the additional effect of leaving the target unconscious for typically a day -- and could use the energies of the Brimstone Dimension her father teleports through to create "Hex Bolts" that she can shoot at enemies.

TJ grew up to be a confident and strong young woman, bristling under the big shadow cast by her parents. But she eventually proved herself during an attack by the Brotherhood, even using her powers to briefly possess an unconscious Armaggedon and uses his telekinesis to turn her "Uncle Logan" into a weapon against Cyclops. TJ took on the codename Nocturne and ended up joining a group of X-Men that include a time-displaced version of Shadowcat, her boyfriend James Proudstar, the Phoenix -- which now inhabits the body of Colossus after he sacrificed his soul to save his younger sister Illyana -- and the genetically modified Armageddon, a heroic clone of Apocalypse who also has the DNA of Jean Grey) among their ranks.

NOCTURNE IN THE EXILES

Nocturne became much more important to the multiverse than she ever expected, however, when she was made a member of the Exiles in Judd Winick and Mike McKone's Exiles #1. Comprised of heroes from across the multiverse, the Exiles are tasked with fixing mistakes in timelines, correcting alternate realities and keeping the multiverse from causing more problems. If they fail, their own realities will be changed radically into dark new presents. Nocturn fights to keep her father from dying in battle against the Hellfire Club,  specifically at the hands of her grandmother, Mystique.

Nocturne becomes a valuable member of the team, helping save lives across the multiverse. She even fell in love with her teammate John Proudstar, briefly becoming pregnant before terminating the pregnancy after being forced to leave a comatose, braindead Thunderbird behind after a battle. Nocturne even got the chance to meet the core Marvel Universe-version of Nightcrawler and befriended him during a mission to Earth-616. She even briefly stayed on this Earth, serving as a member of New Excalibur before suffering a stroke. However, she returned to the multiverse to try and recover from the incident and was even reunited with Thunderbird.

Nocturne became one of the most consistent members of the Exiles, helping to become a leader of the organization once the team took command of the Crystal Palace. But after losing more and more of her friends to the realities of being an Exile, Nocturne ultimately decided to remain on a world where the Marvel Universe is fused with elements from stories harkening back to the classic 1001 Arabian Nights after being named queen. While Nocturne might not be a major player in the current Marvel multiverse, she's one of the characters who truly represents a bridge between being an X-Man and an Avenger, and she was able to save countless worlds with the Exiles. Now, it's only a matter of time before the teleporting Blink ends up calling on her friend again for help.
