WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2, now streaming on Netflix.

As Netflix's Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2 wraps, it's bittersweet as audiences empathize with the alien-mutants that try to destroy a small, rural Polish town. Sadly, Adam (Mateusz Wieclawek) watches on as Zosia (Julia Wieniawa-Narkiewicz) is run over by special ops forces, consigning himself to imprisonment as he feels he's got nothing to live for anymore.

However, while it seems his journey's over after losing his soulmate, the movie does leave threads open that could chart a possible threequel for him and allow propagation of his species.

Are the Mutated Twins Still Alive?

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight focused on giant brothers who were mutated by the mysterious meteor, growing up as behemoths covered with boils. They gained super-strength, invulnerability and such, but while this sequel had them tired and languishing in prison, there's room to return to wreak havoc. One of them does blow the station up with a grenade in the finale, but we never see their deaths, so they could have faked it and escaped.

Given they've been impervious to so many attacks prior, it'd fit the narrative perfectly. It'd then allow them to go on yet another rampage, rejuvenated by seeing how Adam and Zosia got taken out by humanity. After all, the twins don't like mankind either, so their new massacre can shift the series back to the original essence, a la The Hills Have Eyes.

The Infection Creates A New Army

Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight II has a freaky sex scene with Adam and Ziosa

The meteor's black goo transforms Zosia in this movie after she helped fight the twins in the previous one, so a sequel can look at the goo spreading into the water supply or through the ground to infect others. There might be other meteor fragments around, or the twins could use their rock to convert others into their species rather than murder them.

This creates alien hybrid soldiers with thought and humanity, much like Adam and Zosia. Zosia did admit the rock came from the moon and the ambition was bringing about the apocalypse, so more infected people can not only help poison the town but the country -- and then, the world. What'd make it interesting is the new monsters would already have enemies such as the gun-toting postman and folks who lost loved ones in the camp slaughter in the first film.

Adam Becomes A Revenge-Obsessed Villain

Adam and Ziosa find tragedy in Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight II

As the film ends with Adam carted away to the city, right after the title card, we see a stinger with scientists experimenting on him. They stick a syringe into his brain, but rather than a cry of pain, he lets out the devilish roar Zosia was trying to teach him all along. This hints that he's lost all humanity after her death and is finally embracing his monstrous side.

All his life he's been pushed around, so he could now kill the folks keeping him as a lab rat, escape and become the assertive leader Zosia wanted, killing in her name. Seeing someone so innocent and pure turn evil -- especially as he may have the twins and other infected people to use as dogs of war -- creates a great duality, with Adam's morals and conscience eventually acting on him as he raises his horde and tries to end the world.

See how Adam and the twins open doors for a sequel in Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight 2, now streaming on Netflix.
