Since Tom Hardy's first Venom film premiered in 2018, fans have wondered whether or not his films take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But following his inter-dimensional appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans are more convinced that Hardy's Venom and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man hail from the same universe. Though this hasn't been confirmed yet, the way all of Spider-Man's superpowered villains appeared in the film strongly supports this theory.

At the end of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Eddie Brock was transported from his hotel room in Mexico to the universe where Tom Holland's Spider-Man resides. But at the end of No Way Home, Brock was whisked back to his home reality by Doctor Strange's magic, leaving fans pondering which Spider-Man he'll get to meet in his world.

In No Way Home, Strange's botched memory-wiping spell transported supervillains who knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man from multiple universes. Each of these villains hailed from one of two different realities: the Sam Raimi universe and the Marc Webb universe. For some reason, the spell also transported a Peter Parker from each of these universes to the MCU, meaning that these villains had to have taken their respective Spider-Men with them.

Though he never took part in the multiversal battle in New York, Hardy's Venom was still transported by Strange's magic with Spidey's other adversaries, meaning he had to have been from one of these two alternate realities. Since there was already a version of Eddie Brock in Sam Raimi's universe, that leaves Webb's world as the only candidate.

If this version of Venom came from a completely different universe, then another variant of Peter Parker should have traveled to the MCU with him. Since a fourth Peter did not appear in No Way Home, as far as we know, Hardy's Venom would have to have originated from Garfield's universe.

Right now, it's still unclear whether or not the Eddie Brock from Sony's Spider-Man Universe exists in the same reality as The Amazing Spider-Man films. But based on how Doctor Strange's spell worked and the rousing return of Garfield's Peter Parker, the cinematic universe set up by Marc Webb's Spider-Man films could make a comeback with Hardy's Venom, and fans are hoping to see his Lethal Protector meets its version of the web-slinger in a future film.
