One of the biggest complaints fans had with Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was Jaime Foxx's Electro. Fans all know Foxx is a brilliant Oscar-winning actor, but he did come off a bit too slapstick, with some comparing him to Jim Carrey's over-the-top Riddler from Batman Forever. Another issue they had was that, apart from the iffy depiction of the usually ice-cold Max Dillon, when he eventually became Electro, he didn't have his iconic costume. Well, thanks to the official trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Electro finally gets his classic look.

It shows up around the 2:00 mark when Electro tells someone, "You're not going to take this away from me!" It's in the fight sequence atop the Statue of Liberty and seems to be referring to Pete's attempts to usher "visitors" like him back to their respective realities as he teams up with the Lizard and Sandman. As Max charges up, electric rays form around him and create the signature star-shaped face mask Electro has in the comics.

It's a powerful moment, which honors the character Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created in 1964 to fight the wall-crawler, while also modernizing the villain. Of course, the iconic green and yellow costume, as well as the electric bolt face mask, would be too cheesy and impractical for the big screen, so this is a great way of paying homage to that with a new spin.

As for the color scheme, Max is seen wearing a green t-shirt and khaki pants, and as he charges up, he glows yellow, fitting the vintage comic aesthetic. The electric shield around the face also works, adhering to what this version of the criminal is while not obscuring the emotions of an angry Max. It's a massive upgrade from the blue look he had in Webb's movie, which gave him a transparent eel-like finish that just didn't feel like Electro. With the crackling voice and leather outfit to boot as well, that Electro felt like someone from a cheesy '90s movie, leaving a bad taste in viewers' mouths.

He felt so far removed, especially because it took a while for him to shake his awkward skin and become cutthroat like Max usually acts. But in this MCU adventure, Electro has the look, feel and sound, owning that classic vibe as he tries to shock Peter and run wild in the Big Apple.

To see Electro's new look, Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters Dec. 17.
