A body double for Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home showed off more of the hero's super-suit.
In a post on Instagram, Omar Zaki revealed photos of himself standing in for Garfield during re-shoots on No Way Home. According to Zaki, he did two days of re-shoots on No Way Home when Garfield and his stunt double were both unavailable. One of the scenes in question involved an exchange between Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Stephen Strange, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and Tom Holland's Spider-Man. The other was a "small physical scene" that didn't make the final cut.
Garfield debuted as the Peter Parker in 2012's Amazing Spider-Man, which was directed by Marc Webb. Garfield later returned for 2014's Amazing Spider-Man 2. Both movies fared well commercially. However, reviewers were mixed. While there were plans for a third film and several spinoffs, those never came to fruition, as Sony ended up partnering with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
No Way Home sees Garfield returning as Spider-Man after the MCU's Peter seeks out Doctor Strange to get his help hiding his identity after it was exposed by Quentin Beck/Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) at the end of 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. The spell goes awry, and several characters from past Spider-Man franchises get pulled into the MCU, including Garfield's Peter.
Since Garfield returned in No Way Home, rumors have circulated that the MCU film will not be the actor's last turn as Spider-Man. Fans have also expressed their support for Garfield getting to finish his trilogy of films. For his part, Garfield is willing to return to the role, provided the part feels right. At this time, there's no official indication Garfield will return as Spider-Man.
Since opening in December, No Way Home has proven a massive success commercially. Currently, No Way Home has earned more than $1.53 billion at the worldwide box office, making it one of the highest-grossing films ever. The movie also holds a 93 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and an equally high audience score.
Directed by Jon Watts from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: No Way Home is in theaters now. The movie does not, at the time of writing, have a home media or streaming release date.
