After years of development, um, hell, creator Mike Mignola finally announcedHellboy reboot was officially in the works that would recast David Harbour in the title role with Neil Marshall set to direct. While a hard R-rating of Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen promises a "darker, more gruesome" film, many fans are still a bit bummed that Ron Perlman wouldn't get another one last chance to don the Right Hand of Doom, leading some to hope that the original Big Red would at least get a nod in the upcoming movie, perhaps via a quick cameo. Unfortunately, Perlman himself had some pretty strong words on Twitter that shot down the possibility.

Replying to a question asking point blank if he'd make a cameo in the reboot, Perlman responded simply:

The franchise reboot's recasting continued this week when it was announced that Ian McShane (American Gods) would step in to play Hellboy's adoptive father, Professor Broom, a role first played by the late John Hurt in the original film.

Co-written by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mignola, Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen doesn't yet have a release date.
