Hawkeye Netflix Series Not 'on the Table,' Says Jeremy Renner

Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe has accomplished great things with many of its heroes, Hawkeye fans will undoubtedly agree that Jeremy Renner's archer hasn't received the attention he deserves. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear as if it's going to change anytime soon.

Hawkeye has appeared in four Marvel Studios films to date, but in each instance he's relegated to a supporting role, leading to repeated calls for the character to headline a Netflix series, alongside Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the upcoming The Punisher. Renner himself has expressed an openness to a television drama, saying last year, “I don’t know the practicality of that, but any of these characters I play, I’d love to dig into them more. I never feel like I get enough time with any character I play, and that’s one of them.”

However, fans shouldn't hold their breaths while waiting for that Netflix announcement, because it doesn't appear to be in the cards.

"It’s not a decision I get to make," Renner told We Got This Covered while promoting his new film, Wind River. "It’s not an option that has been on the table ever. But any way I get to explore the Clint Barton/Hawkeye character is always interesting to me."

Renner will next appear as Hawkeye, alongside virtually every other hero in the MCU, in Avengers: Infinity War, arriving May 4, 2018.
