Amazon has signed an exclusive deal with Grishaverse author Leigh Bardugo to develop her horror book Ninth House, the first volume of her new adult Alex Stern series, into a TV series.Ninth House is set at Yale, which was Bardugo's alma mater. However, in the book, there are eight secret societies that use different kinds of magic to increase their members' privilege. A ninth one, Lethe, oversees their activities. Alex Stern is Lethe's latest recruit, brought into its folds because she can see the ghosts of the deceased... which unfortunately means that they can see her too. In the novel, the plot kicks off when a girl is killed on-campus during the mysterious absence of Alex's mentor. Ninth House has been widely praised, including by such writers as Stephen King and Lev Grossman.RELATED: Exclusive: Amazon's The Boys Is Bigger Than Any Marvel Netflix Show
