A new rumor suggests a whole host of Super Mario games are being remasted the for 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

According to Video Games Chronicle, Nintendo is working on "most of Super Mario's 35-year back catalogue this year, remastered for Nintendo Switch." Although it's a pretty vague claim, a second report from Eurogamer adds fan-favorite titles like Nintendo 64's Super Mario 64, GameCube's Super Mario Sunshine and Nintendo Wii's Super Mario Galaxy will be part of the lineup. The original report also says there are "several other Mario titles" coming in 2020, which includes a Deluxe version of Super Mario 3D World and a new Paper Mario.

Finally, there's expected to be an update on Nintendo's partnership with Universal for the Super Nintendo World theme park and an animated Super Mario Movie. However, when asked to clarify if there was more to these rumors, a Nintendo spokesperson reiterated the company "does not comment on rumour and speculation.”

Although Mario debuted as "Jumpman" in 1981's Donkey Kong, he's made a much bigger name for himself since his arrival on the NES for Super Mario Bros. in 1985. These days, Mario is the official mascot of Nintendo and one of the most iconic video game characters of all time.

It's thought that Nintendo planned a huge announcement for this year's E3, however, the expo's cancelation due to coronavirus (COVID-19) has put this on hold.
