Jay and Silent Bob are heading back to the mall as the pair, played by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, will star in a new side-scrolling beat-'em-up for the Nintendo Switch and PC.
Taking influence from retro games from the Nintendo Entertainment System era, Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl sees the titular heroes traverse an 8-bit mall, pummeling enemies with combo attacks and an assortment of weapons in their attempt to escape and make it back to the front of their beloved Quick Stop.
The game features two-player co-op gameplay and leans into popular beat-'em-ups of the era such as River City Ransom and Double Dragon. The trailer displays the old-school aesthetic the game is embracing, showcasing all of its 8-bit glory and giving fans a sneak peek of some of the characters and locations they can expect to encounter during their journey.
Since the game takes place in a mall, several familiar faces and backdrops from Smith's 1995 cult-favorite Mallrats pop up, including the Truth or Date background, security guard LaFours and a Mooby's fast food restaurant. Even the Easter Bunny -- who had a run-in with Jay and Silent Bob in the movie -- gets an appearance. The trailer is accompanied by a rap song detailing some of the things gamers can do, as well as some of the bosses and enemies they can expect to face off against, including, of all things, a horse-riding Patrick Swayze.
Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl arrives on Nintendo Switch and PC May 7.
