The Nintendo Switch is the most successful Nintendo console ever released. By combining handheld and console technology, the company is able to appeal to both audiences with its wide array of games. But when a company has so many hit games, they're bound to run into a problem: the fans want more.

Even as Nintendo rushes to make sequels to most of their beloved games, the fans have a ravenous appetite. They'd rather not wait for sequels, and instead want more content added to some of their favorite games via DLC. And while Nintendo doesn't have a problem supporting its games, the company could always do with just a bit more.

10 Astral Chain Could Have Expanded On Its Fascinating Universe

Astral Chain

Combine a futuristic planet Earth with JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and the result is PlatinumGames' Astral Chain. With this game, the focus was all on a futuristic police agency protecting humanity from threats coming from another dimension.

While Astral Chain had a heavy focus on gameplay, the compelling story helped elevate an already solid game into an amazing experience. The only problem with the series is that it deserves a chance to expand on the game’s story with more DLC content and additional Legion summons.

9 Pokémon Legends: Arceus Should Have Expanded On Its Hisui Region

Pokemon Legends Arceus for the Nintendo Switch

Even though fans are getting ready for the next generation of Pokémon, they already got an amazing new entry earlier in the year. Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes place in the distant past of the Hisui Region, mimicking an early colonization era. Players basically got to be ninja as they explored and completed the Pokédex of that region.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus was an experience that critics and fans alike enjoyed, but the game hasn’t been a priority for Nintendo. Instead, the focus is on the upcoming Generation 9 games, meaning fans have been deprived of some solid expansions to this fascinating world.

8 Super Mario Odyssey Deserved More Levels And More Objects To Manipulate

The Nintendo Switch’s first year was monumental, with both an amazing launch game in Breath of the Wild and the fantastic Super Mario Odyssey at the end. Odyssey is the most recent 3D Mario game, and the concept behind it was incredible.

The ability to toss Mario’s hat onto objects in order to become those objects and maneuver through the map not only made the game enjoyable but justified replaying each level. Considering there hasn’t been a true 3D Mario game since then, Nintendo really could’ve given Super Mario Odyssey fans a little more love through DLC.

7 New Pokémon Snap Should Have Added More Stages

Fans begged for a sequel to the N64 Pokémon Snap game for years. But it wasn’t until 2021 that The Pokémon Company finally delivered with New Pokémon Snap. New Pokémon Snap offered over 200 different Pokémon for players to go through on the initial release.

Later DLC added 20 more Pokémon, making for 234 in all for players to Snap. But New Pokémon Snap was a surprising hit, selling over two million copies. It certainly would’ve been profitable to add a few additional stages and monsters for fans.

6 Pokken Tournament DX Could Have Created A Larger Roster

Nintendo had a genius idea on their hands with a Pokémon fighting game. Pokken Tournament performed great on the Wii, so naturally, they brought it over to the Switch to be an even bigger hit.

Pokken Tournament DX received two DLC packs that added two new Pokémon and two new support Pokémon pairs. This ended the roster with 23 characters, which is a respectable roster for a fighting game. However, the support was there to add another dozen characters if they wanted, as they weren’t exactly out of popular Pokémon characters to use.

5 Luigi’s Mansion 3 Needed More Ghosts To Terrify Everyone's Favorite Player 2 Plumber

Luigi and Gooigi from Luigi's Mansion 3

It’s impossible not to love Luigi, Mario’s brother who finds himself terrified in every situation. Luigi’s Mansion 3 was a great return to the franchise, and with over eleven million copies sold, it is one of the best-selling games for the Switch.

Unsurprisingly, Nintendo created two sets of DLC for Luigi’s Mansion 3, adding a dozen new ghosts, mini-games, outfits, and new floor themes for co-op. But considering how beloved Luigi is and how starved the Mario fanbase is for new games, they could’ve easily added a third wave of DLC for even more ghosts and wacky outfits.

4 Metroid Dread Needed More Extensive DLC

The 2D Metroid franchise had been dormant for years when Metroid Dread was released. The franchise had meant to go to Metroid Dread during the Nintendo DS era, but they never did. The game is already considered a modern classic, but the DLC left a lot to be desired. They added things like an Easy Mode and an “Dread Mode,” plus a Boss Rush.

Considering this is the first 2D Metroid game in ages, and it was so well-received, the lack of DLC for Metroid Dread disappointing. Fans everywhere would have loved it if Nintendo had added just one more area to explore until the next game.

3 Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order Could Have Expanded The Marvel Universe Even More

In a surprise for fans of the original games, Nintendo got Team Ninja to create another Marvel Ultimate Alliance, this time based on the Infinity story. This latest Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order expands the Marvel universe, introducing more iconic characters and having a larger roster than ever.

While there were several waves of DLC for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, there are other characters that could stand to be added to the game. Though the game performed well, there’s no guarantee there’ll be a fourth title, so it's unfortunate that the existing DLC ended on a cliffhanger. Perhaps one more expansion story could give fans the closure they want.

2 Fire Emblem: Three Houses Needed More Time With The Main Cast

Fire Emblem: Three Houses was the first mainline Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo Switch, and it was every bit the hit the company could have hoped for. Fans loved the different noble groups, growing attached to them during the story and picking sides they wanted to “stan” for.

Knowing that, it really seems like Nintendo could have milked Fire Emblem: Three Houses a bit more. Of course, they eventually made a “sequel” in the form of Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, but not every fan wants to shift to a different genre just to get more of their favorite characters.

1 Super Smash Bros Ultimate Could Keep Adding Characters For Years

Battlefield stage from Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate might be the best-supported fighting game ever. The series has long-established itself as the most popular fighter, with Ultimate selling over 28 million copies, and the series had three seasons worth of DLC, adding several new characters and crossover fighters, but there's still room for more.

As great as finally getting Sora in the game was, Smash Bros. is to fighting games what Fortnite is to battle royales. It’s a place where players can play as characters from their favorite franchise, and realistically Ultimate can be supported for years to come.
