Nintendo may be one of the last publishers to showcase during E3 2021 but that doesn't it has nothing to present.
Nintendo has already confirmed that today's 40-minute Direct stream will focus entirely on software, potentially shooting down rumors of a Switch Pro announcement. Fans expected to see more footage of Splatoon 3, new characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and possibly more information on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Here's everything that was announced:
Kazuya in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
The protagonist of the Tekken franchise, Kazuya punches his way into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The joint gameplay trailer revealed the character's move set while a cinematic portion poked fun at the series's more iconic opening. Masahiro Sakurai, head of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate provided a brief walk through on Kazuya's abilities; many attacks seem to be pulled directly from the Tekken franchise. No release date for Kazuya was provided.
Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection and Life is Strange: True Colors.
Life Is Strange: True Colours launches on Nintendo Switch on September 10. Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection launches later in 2021.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
Square-Enix's third-person action-adventure game based on the Guardians of the Galaxy is coming to Nintendo Switch.
Astria Ascending
Launching on September 30, Astria Ascending is a turn-based JRPG with a unique art style.
Two-Point Campus
Two-Point Campus, the college-management sim with a sense of humor, launches on Nintendo Switch in 2021.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania
A celebration of the 20th anniversary of the classic game, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania is a remake of Super Monkey Ball, Super Monkey Ball 2 and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. The first game in the franchise launched in 2001. The remake of the original three games will include 300 levels and 12 multiplayer modes. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania launches on October 5.
Mario Party Superstars
Mario Party Superstars is a collection of beloved Mario Party boards based on the original Nintendo 64 release. All of the original boards and mini-games have been given an HD remaster. Players will have over 100 mini-games to experience across six classic boards. The game launches on Oct. 29, 2021.
Metroid Dread
The latest entry in the mainline franchise, the cinematic trailer for Metroid Dread shows off Samus in a new suit, fighting against a terrifying robot enemy. The game will be 2D and seemingly features several elements from previous titles. The game releases on Oct. 8, 2021. This is the first 2D Metroid in 19 years.
Just Dance 2022
The dancing party game returns for another iteration on the Nintendo Switch. The game launches on November 4.
Dragon Ball Z Kakarot
The action-RPG set within the Dragon Ball Z universe, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot launches on Nintendo Switch on September 24.
Mario Golf: Super Rush
Nintendo provided a brief rundown of the game modes available in the upcoming Mario Golf: Super Rush. Highlighted modes include Standard Golf, Speed Gold, Battle Golf and Golf Adventure. Additional courses and characters will be added post-launch. Mario Golf: Super Rush launches on June 25.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin
More gameplay footage for the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin focuses on the game's battle system as well as monster collection and loot. The game launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 9.
WarioWare: Get It Together!
A new collection of microgames built around quick-thinking and reflexes, WarioWare: Get It Together! introduces two-player co-op to the series. The game launches in the "near future."
Shin Megami Tensei V
The latest trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V highlights the game's protagonist and the game's post-apocalyptic world filled with angels and demons. Players will need to fight against the demons to survive their deadly adventure. Gameplay was shown off with a special focus placed on the game's command-based combat system.
Players will be able to negotiate with demons to recruit them as allies. This can be conducted both in and out of combat. Demon allies can be fused to create powerful new demons to tip the scales of battle. The game launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 12.
Danganronpa Decadence
Three games in the Danganronpa franchise, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony are coming to the Nintendo Switch. Players will need to make allies and betray fellow students to try and escape the dangerous school they're trapped in. Danganronpa Decadence launches later in 2021.
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
In this port of the Wii-U exclusive horror adventure game, players will need to use their cameras to detect and banish a variety of ghosts from a haunted mountain. Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water launches later in 2021.
Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1
The first DLC chapter of Doom Eternal launches on Nintendo Switch on June 15.
The Strange Brigade
The co-op shooter challenges players to take down an ancient Egyptian mummy. Set in the 1930s, players can venture out into dangerous dig sites and temples either solo or with four friends. The game launches on June 15.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope
The sequel to the turn-based strategy that unites the Mario universe with Ubisoft's Rabbids, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope will launch in 2022.
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp
Nintendo is remastering both Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2 for the Nintendo Switch. Known as Advance Wars 1+2; Re-Boot Camp, both games have been rebuilt for the modern hardware. The games now support a mixture of 3D and 2D graphics, while still retaining its classically challenging turn-based gameplay. Both games will launch in holiday 2021.
Hyrule Warriors: Expansion Pass
A new batch of DLC for the action game Hyrule Warriors was teased. Players can expect new characters, weapons to arrive in the near future.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
More gameplay footage for the remastered version of Skyward Sword was shown off. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches on July 16.
Legend of Zelda: Game and Watch System
A new Game and Watch system dedicated to The Legend of Zelda series will include the original game, as well as Link's Adventure and the Gameboy version of Link's Awakening. The micro-console launches on November 12.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
Nintendo finally showed off more footage of Breath of the Wild 2. The trailer focuses on some form of dark power, which players will presumably need to defeat. Familiar mechanics like the glider will return alongside a range of new features such as the ability to phase through certain objects. The game will launch in 2022.
