Michael Bay's production of Ninja Turtles, directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans, Battle Los Angeles), may begin shooting in Vancouver as soon as late summer or early fall, according to the British Columbia newspaper The Province.
The film has already garnered more ire than excitement thanks to Bay's plans to disregard the original property's origins and instead making these Ninja Turtles the product of an alien invasion. As such, he dropped "Teenage Mutant" from the title and handed the reins to Liebesman.
Set for Dec. 25, 2013 release, the film was written by Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol scribes Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. The plan, as far as we know, is for the movie to be a combination of live-action and motion capture instead of the men-in-rubber-suits approach taken for the first three films based on Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's indie comic book-turned-gigantic children's franchise.
