For nearly 80 years, Dick Grayson has been a part of Batman comics. In the beginning, he played the role of Robin before eventually striking out on his own. After he changed his name to Nightwing, he became a member of the Teen Titans and helped protect the city of Bludhaven.

Dick has faced a great number of foes over the years. He's stood face to face with amazing villains like Joker and Two-Face. He's had to deal with a number of strange villains during his time as a hero. Unfortunately, not all of these villains have been as well-thought-out as the Joker.

10 Deathwing & Dinesh

Deathwing and Dinesh were kidnapped by Professor Pyg and brainwashed. Deathwing began to believe that he was the rightful Nightwing. He then began to try and kill Dick Grayson.

Dinesh was a little boy who Professor Pyg tried to brainwash him into taking the place of Robin. For whatever reason, the brainwashing didn't fully work on the young boy, who managed to remember his true name. While the two might have been a threat to Dick under the right circumstances, they ended up being defeated fairly easily.

9 Terminus's Army

Batman Bootface Bat Head Smush

During Dick Grayson's brief tenure as Batman, he had to face off with a group that had been hired by Terminus. The group consisted of Smush, Scallop, Bootface, and Bat Head who were seeking revenge against Batman.

The group came across as unintelligent and ill-prepared. Ultimately, the villain team didn't stand a chance against the combined might of Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne. They must not have been much of a threat, as the group was short-lived. Nightwing wouldn't have had to worry if he ended up having to fight the group by himself.

8 Nite-Wing

Nightwing Nite-Wing feature

The psychopathic and dull-minded Nite-Wing was someone Nightwing once considered a friend. Nite-Wing was a nameless orphan who was known by his nickname, Tad. He had little proper education and was brought up on the streets.

Tad became inspired after meeting a retired hero. Nite-Wing seemed to lack the brainpower and self-restraint to truly make it as a hero. Originally, Nightwing helped him. When Tad showed his true colors by beating a federal agent to death, Nightwing helped arrest him. Nite-Wing may hold a personal grudge against his former friend but lacks the brains to do anything about it.

7 Amygdala

Amygdala from DC screaming.

Amygdala, born Aaron Helzinger, is an easily manipulated man with an anger problem. Part of his brain was removed in an effort to cure him of his volatile temper, but the procedure backfired.

Due to the fact he is easily manipulated, Aaron is often controlled by whatever criminal he is working for. A reformed Amygdala would move into the same apartment building as Dick Grayson, where the two would eventually become friends. Amygdala would return to his life of crime. Dick might not stand a chance against Amygdala's strength, but he could easily out-think the villain.

6 Blockbuster

Roland Desmond Blockbuster

Roland Desmond was the second villain to use the name Blockbuster. The name had originally been used by his brother, Mark Desmond. Roland began as a Batman villain, but he would soon move to Bludhaven and have to deal with Nightwing.

Roland's criminal activities often failed thanks to the intervention of Nightwing and Oracle. Oracle's computer skills often kept the duo one step ahead of Blockbuster. Roland often attempted to have Nightwing killed but failed every time. The criminal often proved himself to be unable to stand against Bludhaven's greatest hero.

5 Double Dare

Nightwing Double Dare

These underutilized villains are usually seen fighting against Nightwing. The sisters, Aliki and Margot Marceau, began by traveling with a French circus. The two later turned to a life of crime to earn a little extra cash.

They would later work as trained assassins. The duo are a lot like Nightwing with their acrobatic skills and their circus background. While they might provide a good nemesis for Nightwing, he rarely has to face them. The sisters might stand a chance against him if they would actually apply themselves.

4 Bride & Groom

Nightwing Bride Groom

The Bride and Groom are a strange couple. The Groom states that they need each other for their symbiotic relationship to work. The couple goes around killing people and draining them in order to survive. Nightwing becomes desperate to stop them.

Dick becomes so desperate to stop them that he's willing to team-up with other villains to bring the Bride and Groom to justice. Though the evil couple is powerful, they seem to have little experience fighting others. In the end, Nightwing manages to trap them in a cave. Should the Bride and Groom escape, they might be able to use their powers to gain the upper hand, but that has yet to happen as far as anyone is aware

3 James Gordon, Jr.

james gordon jr

James Gordon, Jr. is the younger brother of Nightwing's long-time girlfriend, Barbara. He is also the son of one of Batman's oldest allies. Unfortunately, James isn't quite as heroic as his father or sister. He is brilliant but insane.

RELATED: Nightwing's 10 Closest Allies

James is aware that Dick Grayson works as a superhero. His intelligence and skill would give him a fighting chance against Nightwing. He has all the potential to be Nightwing's greatest foe. Unfortunately, he rarely puts his abilities to use.

2 Tony Zucco

Batman Dick Grayson Nightwing

Tony Zucco is one of the most important villains in Nightwing's story. He is the man responsible for the death of Dick Grayson's parents. He is also responsible for the creation of Nightwing in the first place.

Ultimately, Tony Zucco is rather unimportant. As a child, Dick Grayson may not have been able to fight him. But as the hero Nightwing, he could easily defeat someone like Tony Zucco. He is probably one of the weakest villains that Nightwing has ever had to face.

1 Red Hood

red hood

Red Hood and Nightwing are two characters who have both both used the name, Robin. The two have never gotten along well. Dick and Jason have similar training and background knowledge, but different world views.

Red Hood's activities tend to lean more criminal. During Dick's brief tenure as Batman, he had to fight against Jason. Since that time, Red Hood has been embracing a heroic streak. Yet Red Hood might still decide to embrace a life of crime. Nightwing may have to find a way to stand against a man who is essentially his brother.
