Characters from across the DC Universe are sporting summer looks in a new variant cover series.

In the August 2022 solicitations for DC Comics, the publisher released a new swimsuit variant cover series for a number of upcoming titles. The series sees heroes such as Batman, Nightwing, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn and others either headed to the beach or sitting by the pool while soaking in the sun.

The covers come from Stanley "Artgerm" Lao (Action Comics #1406), Mikel Janín (Batman #126), Rafa Sandoval (Batman/Superman: World's Finest #6), Emanuela Lupacchino (Black Adam #3), David Lapham (Deathstroke Inc. #12), Jeff Dékal (Catwoman #46), Megan Huang (Harley Quinn #21), Nicola Scott (Nightwing #95), Derrick Chew (Nubia: Queen of the Amazons #3) and Joelle Jones with Jordie Bellaire (Poison Ivy #3).

Sandoval's Batman/Superman: World's Finest #6 swimsuit variant shows Superman and Batman's families enjoying a day by the pool, as Jon Kent and Dick Grayson play with squirt guns while Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent play a floating table tennis game in the background. Above them, Krypto the Superdog soars by on a raft. The synopsis for the issue reads, "THE FLYING GRAYSON FLIES THROUGH TIME! The Dark Knight and the Man of Steel might have been victorious in their battle against the dreaded Devil Nezha (but were they, though? More on that to come, kids...) but there’s one thing they forgot in all the madness...Dick! Robin the Boy Wonder is lost in time like some kind of chrono-Home Alone...and to find him, Batman and Superman will need to get creative!"

Conversely, Lapham's Deathstroke Inc. #12 cover features something of a Jaws homage as Deathstroke is dangling someone in front of a giant shark while bodies and horrified bystanders watch in horror behind him. The issue's synopsis reads, "Deathstroke Year One part three! Slade’s first assassination goes sideways, and he’s left to fight his way out! Things get even more complicated, though, when Oliver Queen shows up. Deathstroke versus Green Arrow in a battle for the ages!"

Huang's Harley Quinn #21 variant also offers a different kind of "fun" as the vocal clown is standing on a barrel in a pool full of toxic chemicals with her two hyenas, Bud and Lou. Lupacchino's Black Adam #3 cover, meanwhile, shows Teth-Adam sitting in his own jacuzzi while summoning his lightning powers while others wait on him. Other heroes such as Selina Kyle, an adult Grayson, Nubia and Kara Zor-El are meanwhile showing some skin in their own respective variants.
