WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Nightwing #79 by Tom Taylor, Bruno Redondo, Adriano Lucas & Wes Abbott, on sale now.

In the DC Universe, Dick Grayson's bullet to head and his subsequent memory loss left him adrift for many months. But now, Dick has his memory and identity back, along with a fortune left to him by the late Alfred. More importantly, he's also spending an awful lot of time with the woman highly touted as his soulmate, Barbara Gordon, in Nightwing.

And in Nightwing #79, Dick Grayson's costume gets a new upgrade that will make him and Oracle even closer than ever.

Dick and Barbara spend this issue connecting with their new pooch and feeding the people of Blüdhaven. Dick intends to become a philanthropist, akin to what Bruce Wayne was to Gotham. However, the charitable outing turns disastrous when some at-risk kids pickpocket Bruce's former protege.

The pair return to Dick's apartment to suit up. He asks Barbara to accompany him, further stoking their romantic fire. But with her spine still sensitive after "Joker War," she prefers to remain at base and operate remotely as Oracle, rather than jumping from rooftop to rooftop as Batgirl. However, she has a new toy to help him in the form of an improved mask that will give her a first-person view of his adventures.

Oracle reveals she will now be able to see what he sees, giving Nightwing an extra pair of eyes on the street. It's basically extra surveillance, allowing him to suss out clues that he might miss, which immediately comes into play when he spots a meeting of the Maroni and Zucco gangs.

When the pickpockets try to steal from Zucco's thugs, Dick comes to their rescue, beating the thugs down before they can kill the teens. He eventually finds the runaways but leaves them with the wallet to the underprivileged youth who really need it.

While Nightwing is still the most accomplished protege of the World's Greatest Detective, this device will give him a direct line to Oracle and her plethora of resources. For a hero who is so focused on people, this device and the slightly more analytical Barbara's direct line to it will help Nightwing catch what he misses, serving as the latest in a long line of safety nets.

With Barbara as his crimefighting partner in this project, it seems like their bond may turn romantic again. After all, having them working so intimately again and for such a heartwarming cause touches on their close-knit past and paves the way for them to be a couple one more time.
