Dick Grayson officially has a larger bank account than his mentor, according to Nightwing writer Tom Taylor.

In a CBR exclusive interview at San Diego Comic-Con, Taylor was asked if Nightwing is now officially richer than Bruce Wayne/Batman. "One hundred percent," Taylor answered. "Like, by billions. Bruce is now just a lowly millionaire. Nightwing is a billionaire. The difference, I guess, is that Nightwing is not planning to keep any of it. He's giving every cent away."

Dick came by his fortune in Nightwing #78 by Taylor, Bruno Redondo, Adriano Lucas and Wes Abbott. In the issue, Dick has regained his memories following the events of "Joker War" and has decided to leave Gotham City for Blüdhaven. Barbara Gordon pays Dick a visit to inform him that Alfred, who was killed by Bane during the 2019 "City of Bane" storyline, secretly became a billionaire after he became Bruce Wayne's legal guardian. Furthermore, Alfred's will puts Dick in charge of the fortune in the event of his death.

Bruce Wayne's fortune also saw some changes thanks to the events of "Joker War." During the crossover, the Joker steals Bruce's money. Catwoman steals the money from the Joker and later sends them to Lucious Fox; however, Fox tells Bruce the government is now keeping a close eye on his accounts. The end of "Joker War" also sees Bruce stripped away from his position on the Wayne Enterprises board after his public reputation takes a massive hit courtesy of the Joker.

A Different Kind of DC Hero

During the interview, Taylor and Redondo also touched on how Dick has evolved from being Robin into a whole different kind of character. "That Robin was always this positive, wonderful force for good beside Bruce," Taylor said. "I think we're just seeing that he's become his own -- he's Robin times two. It's that character just growing up and wanting to give back to the whole world." Redondo added, "Bruce Wayne deals with a lot of pain, so his most successful play is Nightwing -- the one who went better, emotionally, than he ever could. It's what he wants for his kids. To be better and happier than him. Because he can't be happy. He's cursed."

Nightwing is currently engaged in a battle for the soul of Blüdhaven as he struggles to defend the city against Blockbuster. The story continues with Nightwing #95, which releases Aug. 16. The synopsis reads, "Heartless has an extra-giant jar that has Blockbuster's name on it, but as a man of refined taste, Heartless doesn't just collect any type of heart…he waits for someone to experience a specific emotion in particular before taking it all away from them and adding it into his collection. Does Nightwing have what it takes to save the life of the very man who's been trying to take everything away from Dick Grayson, including his life?"
