This is "Working for a While," a feature that spotlights the lesser-known jobs that our favorite superheroes have had over the years (mostly in their secret identities, but sometimes I'll feature examples of jobs superheroes have had in their costumed identities, as well).

Today, based on a suggestion by Flavio S., we look at Nightwing's brief career as a male model.

It all started it Nightwing #118 (by Bruce Jones, Joe Dodd and Bit), where Dick Grayson moves to New York City and soon finds himself enjoying quite a one night stand with a beautiful mystery woman...

In the next issue, he discovers her name is Cheyenne Freemont and that she is a successful designer. He goes to visit her at her offices and, well, one thing leads to another and through a series of misunderstandings, Dick Grayson has become a professional male model...

I love Cheyenne's reaction when she walks in on Dick in the loincloth.

In the next issue (now pencils by Paco Diaz), Cheyenne decides to design a new line of clothes based on superhero costumes, with Nightwing being her lead design...

This is naturally pretty awkward for Dick...

He goes through with it, but then Jason Todd (who had also moved to New York and began to dress up as Nightwing, too - that guy can never come up with his own identity) interrupts the proceedings...

They have a big fight and everyone thinks it is an awesome publicity stunt...

Dick is disgusted, though, so he quits. Cheyenne goes to woo him back and discovers that he is ACTUALLY Nightwing!

Well, guess what, turns out that Cheyenne has telekinetic powers (What is this comic book?) and in the next issue, she and Dick have to rescue Jason and she designs herself her own Nightwing costume...

Things are hit and miss with Dick and Cheyenne over the next few issues and finally, in Jones' final issue on the book, in Nightwing #124 (art by Robert Teranishi and Wes Craig), they break things off as Cheyenne heads to Hollywood to become a movie costume designer and Dick is out of a job...

Thanks to Flavio for the suggestion!

Okay, folks, I'm sure you have plenty of suggestions for this new feature, so let me have 'em at brianc@cbr.com!
