DC is giving Nightwing and the Flash some long-overdue bonding time.

In April, Dick Grayson takes a day off from his heroic duties to pal around with his best friend and the fastest man alive, Wally West. DC's solicit text for Nightwing #91 reveals that after exhausting himself defending Blüdhaven, Dick will turn to the Flash for some help relaxing. However, Dick is about to find out he and Wally have very different ideas about what it means to "recharge."

  • Trying to save a city that's even more beyond saving than Gotham is no small task, and even someone like Nightwing needs a day off to relax with his best friend and to recharge—but when your best friend is Wally West, a.k.a. the Flash, a "recharge" might not end up being so relaxing!

Dick and Wally's friendship dates back to the early days of the DC Universe. As the respective protégés of Batman and the Flash, Robin and Kid Flash would frequently team up with their fellow sidekicks, Aqualad, Speedy and Wonder Girl. Eventually, the group decided to formalize the arrangement and founded the Teen Titans. Though the team's roster would undergo various changes over the years, Dick and Wally stayed close, teaming up whenever time allowed. Unfortunately, the two lost touch when Dick got a bad case of amnesia and Wally was framed for the murders of a half dozen superheroes, making their upcoming reunion all the sweeter for both the heroes and their fans alike.

Recently, Dick decided to leave Gotham City and apply his energy to Blüdhaven. By day, Dick has repurposed his inheritance to create the Alfred Pennyworth Foundation, a charity organization that combats poverty and hunger in the city. By night, Dick continues his crusade as Nightwing, fighting against the likes of Blockbuster, Heartless and Blüdhaven's organized crime families. Still, while his actions have already improved the lives of the city's citizens, Dick has fatigued himself by working 24/7, necessitating his recharge.

For his part, Wally's life has taken several surprising turns of late. After reconnecting with his long-lost wife Linda and their two children, Wally started working for Mr. Terrific at Holt Industries. At the same time, Wally's predecessor, Barry Allen, left the Earth to join the Justice League Incarnate, a multiversal superhero team. Now preoccupied with protecting the planet as the Fastest Man Alive, maintaining a day job and staying involved with his family's lives, Wally is racing for an opportunity to kick back with an old friend.

Before the former-Titans get together, Dick will be teaming up with the new Superman. In February, Nightwing #89 sees Dick offer some words of wisdom to Jon Kent, whose father is busy battling for his life on Warworld. The two-part storyline will crossover into Superman: Son of Kal-El #9 and concludes in March.
