Nightwing Director Swats Down That Zac Efron Rumor

News about the Nightwing film has been hard to come by, but the director took a moment to shoot down a rumor that had been circling the internet.

According to Chris McKay, Zac Efron has not been cast as Dick Grayson. Some had been saying that he was given the titular role, even despite the fact that very little work has been done on the film over the last few months.

After his success in directing The LEGO Batman Movie, it should be no surprise that Warner Bros. also brought McKay into the DC Extended Universe to direct Nightwing. However, since the failure of DC Films, work on the movie has essentially been halted, and in the meantime McKay has explored helming a new Dungeons & Dragons film.

Since he was hired, McKay has put a lot of focus into finding the perfect lead for the film. Before Nightwing gets a place on DC's slate of films, a casting decision will likely have to be made. While Zac Efron is seemingly not that guy, it's unclear if McKay is even actively casting for the role anymore. Nightwing is currently in limbo right now, so it's unclear when a real casting announcement will be made.
