News broke in February that Warner Bros. is developing a Nightwing film with The LEGO Batman Movie's Chris McKay set to direct. While the studio has yet to announce the project, McKay has ostensibly confirmed his involvement, addressing the appeal of the character and the film.RELATED: What The Nightwing Movie Needs To Get Right About Dick GraysonA Nightwing fan who plans to get a tattoo of Dick Grayson, McKay fielded questions about the project over the weekend on Twitter, further revealing his passion for the character."The story of Dick Grayson, becoming Robin, then becoming Nightwing played out for us, the audience, in the comics in REAL TIME," he tweeted in response to a question. "It wasn't a flashback. We experienced it. So all of Robin/Nightwings successes and failures we were along for the ride. And people that underestimated Robin or dismissed him perhaps had their opinions changed as we watched him 'grow up' right in front of us. His relationships, his conflicts with Batman et al felt real to me because he was the window character with which we experienced Gotham City."And McKay expects the actor cast in the starring role to love Nightwing every bit as much as he does.

McKay then quickly added that the stresses accompanying the role would extend beyond just the gymnasium.

Nightwing would join an expanding DC Films slate that in recent months has added such live-action features as Joss Whedon's Batgirl and David Ayer's Gotham City Sirens. There's no word yet about a targeted release date.
