A piece of promotional artwork for Future State: Teen Titans features a new version of Nightwing, with the hero wearing Deathstroke's mask over their head.

The artwork by Future State: Teen Titans artist Rafa Sandoval was revealed during the CCXP Worlds: A Journey of Hope! convention. It shows this Nightwing/Deathstroke hybrid hero standing next to Red X, who is making a leap from the Teen Titans animated series to the comics. The tagline for the promo reads, "Meet the new Nightwing and his partner... Red X."

  • When the original New Teen Titans formed a school to mentor and train young heroes, they wanted to help save the world. Years later, Titans Tower is a monument to a graveyard of pupils lost in a terrible battle. Returning to the site of their greatest failure, Nightwing, Starfire, Beast Boy, and Cyborg join Raven to plot a course to face off against the evil that destroyed their team and school. Loyalties are questioned and motives are suspect as the former teen heroes must turn to the mysterious Red X—a former student—for help. Don’t miss the first comics appearance of this Red X, previously seen only in the hit animated TV series Teen Titans Go!

Red X was featured in a teaser image for DC Future State by artist Dan Mora, with the hero among all-new heroes and different versions of familiar icons such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and more. Robin took on the mantle of Red X in the first season of Teen Titans as he worked undercover. The character would show up later in Season 3 with someone new donning the costume. It was originally unclear which DC Future State comics Red X would be featured in, though covers have revealed Red X will indeed be a part of Future State: Teen Titans.

CCXP Worlds: A Journey of Hope! takes place Friday, Dec. 4 through Sunday, Dec. 6. The DC panels featured during CCXP Worlds includes DC Future State: Justice League Family, DC Draws YA and Middle Grade with Gustavo Duarte and Gabriel Picolo, DC Future State: Voices of Wonder Woman, DC Future State: New Talent Showcase, DC Future State: Batman and DC Future State: Superman.
