The following article contains spoilers from Nightwing #94, on sale now.

Nightwing's war on Blockbuster has taken a dark turn. The ending of Nightwing #94 (by Tom Taylor, Gerald Borges, Adriano Lucas, and Wes Abbott) saw Melinda finally exposed to him as an informant. Given his murderous rage towards his suspected spy, Melinda's outlook isn't good. This will also have a greater impact on Nightwing's ability to battle Blockbuster.

For a while now, Nightwing has been fighting Blockbuster through politics. Any heroics he used were largely reactions to retaliation against him, but putting on his mask was rarely his first move when chipping away at Blockbuster's control over Bludhaven. Melinda was a key part of this, and without her, Nightwing won't be able to react as quickly and effectively as he had to Blockbuster's future plots.

Blockbuster Learns the Truth

As an informant, Melinda was perhaps the best source of information Nightwing had on Blockbuster. She was a part of his inner circle, privy to all the plans he made, and had an intimate understanding of everyone in that circle. Her tips have not only led Nightwing toward some major arrests but also saved his life.

Blockbuster is not a subtle person. This is shown in his physical appearance as much as it is in his business tactics. When Dick Grayson was becoming a problem, he ordered that the building he lived in be bombed. Had Melinda not warned Dick immediately upon learning this, Nightwing and many others would have died. With her gone, Nightwing is now in more danger than ever before.

Melinda Zucco is in Trouble

However, there is a bright side to this -- Melinda is no longer forced to work for Blockbuster. Assuming she survives, which she likely will, Melinda will no longer be in his pocket. She is also free to be a public ally to Dick Grayson and Nightwing, no longer needing to hide in the shadows. It would also take control of the mayor's office out from under Blockbuster. Most importantly though, it would give Dick and Melinda a chance to bond as siblings. For as long as they've known each other, the two could never really interact outside their mission to take Blockbuster down.

The end of Melinda's double life means that she is free to expand her family to include her brother. A brother who is hopefully on his way to rescue her. Blockbuster's reaction to this new revelation was disturbingly violent. Now that he knows who Melinda really is, and how close she was to him, he'll likely want her to suffer for her betrayal.
