Tom Taylor, writer of the next Nightwing storyline, pledged that Barbara Gordon will be a key part of the title in both of her guises: as street hero Batgirl and as information broker Oracle.

Taylor, who reteams with artist Bruno Redondo (Injustice, Suicide Squad), noted that Barbara Gordon and Dick Grayson have a long history as partners and as friends. "I’ve always loved their relationship. There aren't many characters who know each other so well. They've been through so much together, respect each other, and have always been there to support one another," he told IGN.

The Batgirl title concluded in October with issue #50, which was part of  the "Joker War" crossover, and left Grayson with amnesia and Gordon charting a new course in her life. Taylor will explore Gordon's future and her ties to Grayson. "They're not Batman and Robin. There's no sidekick here. They're equals in every way and Babs will be a big part of our story, as Batgirl and as Oracle. Bruno and I have told some huge stories with giant casts between Injustice, Star Wars and Suicide Squad, and we're very excited to focus on a smaller cast and imbue this book with as much heart and hope as we can."

Nightwing #78, by writer Tom Taylor, artist Bruno Redondo, colorist Adriano Lucas and letterer Wes Abbott, goes on sale March 16 from DC.
