Syfy today revealed a first look at its upcoming series Nightflyers. The show will be an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire creator George R. R. Martin’s 1980 novella about a spaceship crew looking for an ancient, nomadic race of aliens, but instead find horror aboard their vessel when an unseen force begins picking them off.

The video offers a first look at both scenes from the upcoming series as well as a few behind-the-scenes shots from filming. Key figures on the show also sit down for brief interviews, the most surprising of which being Martin himself -- Martin is not involved with the show due to a television exclusivity deal with HBO.

One of the most interesting details revealed in the video is just how much production and set work has gone into creating the eponymous Nightflyer vessel. According to Supervising Producer Sean Ryerson, the ambitious set includes “acres of spaceship” that looks to include everything from twisting corridors to cramped living quarters.

Based on a story by George R. R. Martin, Nightflyers stars Gretchen Mol as Dr. Agatha Matheson, Eoin Macken as Karl D’Branin, David Ajala as Roy Eris, Sam Strike as Thale, Maya Eshet as Lommie, Angus Sampson as Rowan, Jodie Turner-Smith as Melantha Jhirl and Brían F. O’Byrne as Auggie. An exact premiere date has yet to be revealed, but the show is scheduled to debut this fall.
