After filming Drive in Los Angeles, Nicolas Winding Refn fell in love. Deadline reports that the writer-director will stick around LA for his next movie The Neon Demon.
“One morning I woke and realized I was both surrounded and dominated by women," Refn said. "Strangely, a sudden urge was planted in me to make a horror film about vicious beauty.”
With that in mind, he got to work on a female-centric horror film co-written by newcomer Mary Laws. Shooting is expected to begin early next year. Refn, who also helmed Only God Forgives with Drive star Ryan Gosling, has a haunting film called The Bringing in the works and also the Barbarella TV series in development.
