Neil Patrick Harris has become the latest big-name actor to join the cast of the upcoming meta-action/comedy about Nicolas Cage, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harris will be playing the role of Cage's talent agent. A name or other details were not revealed for Harris' The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent character. Harris joins a cast that also includes Pedro Pascal, Tiffany Haddish, Sharon Horgan, Lily Sheen and Jacob Scipio.

The premise for The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent concerns a fictionalized version of Nicolas Cage agreeing to attend the birthday party of a superfan (Pascal) in exchange for a hefty payday. However, the superfan is eventually revealed to be a drug kingpin. To survive this adversary, Cage will be forced to call upon his most iconic roles.

Harris is an actor who got his big break portraying the titular lead character of the TV show Doogie Howser, M.D. Since then, Harris has starred in TV shows like How I Met Your Mother as well as movies like The Smurfs and Gone Girl. In addition to The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, other upcoming projects for Harris include a role in The Matrix 4.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has begun production and is slated for a March 2021 release. Director Tom Gormican co-wrote the screenplay with Kevin Etten.
