Created by D.J. MacHale and Ned Kandel, the original Are You Afraid of the Dark? series ran between 1992 and 1996, then returned from 1999-2000. Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a horror anthology series where a group of kids called the Midnight Society would meet up after dark to swap scary stories, which featured ghosts, aliens, monsters and evil clowns. Each story would become the subject of that episode. The series was one of the first horror-centered shows made for children.

Taylor will play a member of the new Midnight Society in the revival, alongside Arnold, Cech, Smart and Wray. In this hour-long limited series, the Midnight Society will tell a terrifying tale about the insidious Carnival of Doom, which -- to their horror -- comes to life as they tell the story. Casal will play the Carnival's ringmaster Mr. Tophat.
