Marvel Snap released a new trailer for the game depicting Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury confronting those that fired him -- and his unexpected replacement.

The one-minute spot sees Fury return to S.H.I.E.L.D. after discovering he'd been fired. After a brief confrontation as he expresses his outrage over his outing, he's introduced to his replacement -- a young, Avengers-loving gamer with a picture of Fury as their wallpaper on their phone. Playing off a similar trope used in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films, the clip ends with Fury about to drop the F-bomb in response. Jackson shared the video to his Twitter account, asking fans if they think they could do a better job as the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. than he did.

Marvel, Nuverse and Second Dinner announced the game back in May 2022. In describing the gameplay, the team stated it "stripped out all the stuff that gets in the way of fun and gets everybody straight into the strategic action."Although Marvel Snap initially launched in June in a limited capacity, it only released globally today on iOS, Android and Steam. The game allows players to participate in fast-paced card battles, with each game lasting approximately three minutes. Using 12 card decks, players must attempt to add enough hero power to two out of three bases to overwhelm their opponent.

Each base features either a challenge or a benefit to the players. These bases generate at random for each battle, meaning players must use strategy to determine where best to lay out a card to outsmart their opponent. Between its 50 potential bases and 150 starting cards, players have hundreds of possibilities to prepare for with each Marvel Snap mission. Marvel Snap's numerous microtransactions complicate gameplay further, as it requires spending hundreds of dollars in order to acquire all unique cards.
