Samuel L. Jackson is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reprise his role as former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury in a Disney+ series.

According to Variety, details on the show's plot are being kept under wraps. The Nick Fury series will be written and executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet.

Jackson last appeared in the MCU in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, the majority of the film saw the Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) secretly portray Nick Fury. The post-credits scene for Far From Home revealed Fury to be aboard a Skrull ship in outer space. With the delay in Marvel Studios projects due to coronavirus (COVID-19), this Nick Fury plot point has not been continued.

The first Iron Man film brought Jackson's Nick Fury into the MCU, when another post-credits scene introduced Fury to Robert Downey, Jr.'s Tony Stark. This scene was the first Easter egg that Marvel Studios had big plans for a shared universe, which eventually led to 2012's team-up film, The Avengers.

Nick Fury joins other MCU series on Disney+, including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Hawkeye, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight.

Written and executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet, Nick Fury stars Samuel L. Jackson. It will premiere on Disney+ at an unspecified date in the future.
