Man, oh, man, is Brian Stelfreeze great.

Sometimes comic fans might forget that, as he isn't the type to do regular interior work. But when he does, nine times out of 10 it's a home run -- like this pin-up of X-Statix heroine U-Go Girl. This piece, posted on ComicArtFans by its new owner Louie La Palombara III, is a good example of the kind of work artists like Stelfreeze are doing for the original art market that most fans never even see.

Like his former Gaijin Studios colleague Adam Hughes, Stelfreeze makes a living doing cover work (like the recent Before Watchmen: Comedian #4 variant) and commissions for fans. Stelfreeze has an active Yahoo Group and Facebook fan page where pictures of his commissions, works-in-progress, and news about his actual published comics work appear. In terms of actual interiors, the last major project Stelfreeze did was 2010's Jonah Hex #60, and before that was his Demon/Catwoman strip for 2009's Wednesday Comics with Walt Simonson writing. If you like what you see here, I recommend tracking down his last multi-issue arc he did in a mostly forgotten but great Domino series published in 2003.

You'd think with the number of titles being published every Wednesday there would be more room in the schedule to allow an artist like Stelfreeze to have more presence on the comic stands, but in the ever hectic schedules of comic publishing its hard for guys like Stelfreeze, Travis Charest and others to really make a dent in the monthly business of comics.

Still, we always have this.
