The next Jumanji film is on its way, according to writer and director Jake Kasdan, but it's in its very early stages of production.

In an interview, the director of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level said the fourth film in the franchise is in early discussions. "We’re just starting to talk about all of that," Kasdan replied when asked about it, "and the truth is we’ve barely started."

However, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, talks have come to a halt until the state of the world tips back into normalcy. Regardless, Kasdan's goal with another Jumanji movie is to have it be as exciting as the first two films. He adds, "I would have to love the idea just as much. So I think there will be a third one and it’s just the earliest days of trying to figure out what that would be."
