New York Comic Con reveals list of sci-fi and fantasy authors slated to appear at the 2008 show

Official Press Release

Norwalk, CT, March 7, 2008: The New York Comic Con (NYCC) today revealed a selection of the authors who'll be appearing at its 2008 event -- April 18-20 at the Jacob Javits Center. Science fiction and fantasy scribes who'll be speaking at New York Comic Con include Danielle Bennett, Kate Brallier, Terry Brooks, Peter David, Isamu Fukui, Felix Gilman, Nina Harper, Jaida Jones, David Keck, Naomi Novik, Brian Slattery, Alissa Torres, and F. Paul Wilson. New York Comic Con is the second largest popular culture event in the United States and features Guests of Honor including Mike Mignola, Grant Morrison, and T.M.Revolution.

While a comic book convention at its base, New York Comic Con has grown to span across pop culture, and given its home -- New York City -- in the publishing capital of the world, it receives tremendous support from publishers, with exhibitors including Bantam Books, Del Rey, Disney Publishing, Dorchester Publishing, Hachette Book Group, Penguin Group, Random House, and Tor Books.

"We're honored to welcome some of science fiction and fantasy's most beloved as well as emerging authors," Show Manager Lance Fensterman said. "We know they'll meet many eager and dedicated fans at New York Comic Con, and we hope we're able to expose their words to a whole new audience, too."

New York Comic Con is organized by Reed Exhibitions, the creators of BookExpo America, the largest publishing trade show in the USA. NYCC Show Manager Lance Fensterman also supervises BEA.

Terry Brooks published his first novel, The Sword of Shannara, in 1977. Since then he has written more than 20 New York Times bestsellers, all published by Del Rey. His new Genesis of Shannara trilogy -- including his newest book, The Elves of Cintra -- links the Shannara universe to that of his Word & Void series. There are over 21 million copies of his books in print. Brooks's first-ever graphic novel, Dark Wraith of Shannara, will be released in April 2008.

Peter David is the author of numerous novels and comics, and is perhaps most widely known for his best-selling Star Trek and Babylon 5 books. He's also the author of the Sir Apropos of Nothing and Knight Life fantasy series. In addition, he has written for several television series, including Babylon 5 and Crusades among others.
