New “X-Men: Apocalypse” Set Pic Shows Angel In ’80s Fight Club
“X-Men: Apocalypse” director Bryan Singer’s Instagram feed has brought a steady stream of updates from the film’s Canadian set ever since production began back in the spring. His pics have mostly been abstract, like one showing him standing underneath a giant metal “X,” but more recently they’ve begun including actual members of the cast — like a recent one of Storm.
The most recent post on Singer’s feed features Ben Hardy’s Angel on set in a curious role — that of apparent host of a Berlin fight club in 1982. The actor can be seen in the pic’s dual monitors holding what appears to be a microphone. The hashtags give away that Angel is standing in the German fight club.
The image echoes back to the first X-Men film, which Singer directed in 2000. That film featured a Canadian cage fighting tournament, which is where audiences first met Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Angel’s been many things in the comics over the past fifty years, but MC of a German fight club isn’t one of them. We’ll just have to wait for “X-Men: Apocalypse” to arrive in theaters to find out if this Instagram pic depicts exactly what it appears to depict.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” opens on May 27, 2016.
