Light on action and heavy on exposition, the excerpt is short – just 37 seconds – and sees Vampire hybrid David (Theo James) confronting fellow hybrid Selene (Kate Beckinsale) about her missing daughter, and her importance to the Lycans in the ongoing war.

The next installment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

While Selene has appeared in all five of the "Underworld" films to date, including the 2006 prequel "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans," David is a more recent addition to the franchise, making his debut in the fifth installment, "Underworld: Awakening," as a sneaky-yet-curious Vampire who follows Selene and eventually becomes her ally.

Directed by Anna Foerster, “Underworld: Blood Wars” also stars Lara Pulver, Tobias Menzies, Bradley James, James Faulkner and Charles Dance. The film opens Jan. 13.
