A new trailer has arrived for the second season of HBO's "True Detective," the acclaimed crime anthology series created by Nic Pizzolatto.
As the writer made clear last week, this season doesn't involve the "secret occult history of the United States transportation system” -- that idea was jettisoned early on -- but instead follows three cops and a career criminal who must navigate a web of conspiracy following a murder.
Colin Farrell plays Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his bosses in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. Vince Vaughn is Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his plans to move into legitimate business are upended by the murder of his partner. Rachel McAdams portrays Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County, California, sheriff’s detective “whose uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves, while Taylor Kitsch is war veteran Paul Woodrugh, a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer who’s running from a difficult past.
The eight-episode second season of "True Detective" premieres Sunday, June 21, on HBO.
