With new installments in a number of long-running franchises, 2017 looks like it's going to be quite a year for blockbusters. To get a handle on the new year's new crop of films, USA Today has run through a number of the biggest upcoming releases -- including "Transformers: The Last Knight" and "Alien: Covenant."

The fifth in Michael Bay's "Transfomers" franchise, "The Last Knight" will jump through time and visit both Arthurian legend and World War II. “It’s really smart and different,” Mark Wahlberg told USA Today. Wahlberg's character, inventor Cade Yeager, gets pulled into a the fight once more, this time with a British duke played by Anthony Hopkins by his side. Wahlberg also spoke about the film's stunts, saying, “It’s not as cool as it would be had I been 25. At 45, it's all pretty strenuous, but I really like that Michael gives me freedom to make the character my own, improvising and bring a lot of humor and elevate the emotion.” Wahlberg's character Cade goes exploring in the new photo, seen below.

The round up also includes a new shot from "Alien: Covenant," Ridley Scott's sequel to "Prometheus" that takes place in between that film and "Alien." "Covenant" star Katherine Waterston, who plays the Ripley-esque Daniels, spoke about her experience on the new film, saying, “You don’t really know what you’re made of until you’re tested. [Daniels and Ripley] are both able to somehow think clearly in really shocking, unimaginable scenarios. It’s fun to play someone who can thrive in that chaos.” The new photo, below, shows Waterston's Daniels in the heat of battle.
