Following a marketing campaign where fans were instructed to vote on Twitter for their favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in order to unlock new character posters -- Leonardo was first, followed by Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello -- a new trailer for August's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" film, directed by Jonathan Liebesman and produced by Michael Bay, was released Tuesday. The trailer offers the longest look yet at the film, and includes lots of Shredder and Splinter in action, along with Johnny Knoxville as the voice of Leonardo, Will Arnett as Vernon Fenwick and a brief glimpse of Whoopi Goldberg as Bernadette Thompson.

Notably, the trailer refers to Shredder as a "robot samurai" -- perhaps establishing that William Fichtner is not, as had been expected, Shredder himself in the film. Additionally, the final scene in the trailer sees Arnett's character ask if the Turtles are aliens, only for Megan Fox's April O'Neil to reply, "No, that's stupid" -- a likely reference to the early, scrapped plans for this film to depict the famous foursome as aliens that caused controversy in the TMNT fan community, though Bay later refuted that the revamped origin was ever in the works.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is scheduled for release on Aug. 8.
