During the Sixth Annual MoffettNathanson Media & Communications Summit, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed development on a third Disney+ Star Wars series.
In a series of announcements recorded by Attractions Magazine, Iger announced that another live-action Star Wars series will release in addition to The Mandalorian and the as-yet untitled Cassian Andor series.
While the announcement confirms at least one more Disney+ Star Wars series for the platform, it didn't provide any additional details as to what the series will be about. However, since the Skywalker saga ends with The Rise of Skywalker, the new series will likely explore another corner of the Star Wars universe.
After Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans can look forward to another Star Wars trilogy, with the first film expected to come out in December 2022.
Directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Keri Russell, Anthony Daniels, Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and Carrie Fisher, with Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. The film arrives December 20.
