New 'Rogue One' Trailer to Debut Thursday During Olympics

Fans disappointed that the new trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" wasn't streamed last month from "Star Wars" Celebration now have extra incentive to tune in to the Olympics: A new trailer for the hotly anticipated film will debut Thursday during NBC's coverage of the Rio Summer Games.

Precisely when the trailer will air isn't clear, although we can likely expect it to be during primetime. It's also of course unknown whether this will be entirely new footage or that shown to the audience at "Star Wars" Celebration, which included the return of Darth Vader. Whatever the case, "Star Wars" die-hards will undoubtedly tune in.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, "Rogue One" is set shortly before the events of "Star Wars: A New Hope," as a group of Rebels sets out on a desperate mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.

Arriving Dec. 16, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Jiang Wen, Donnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Jonathan Aris.
