Yahoo! Movies has unveiled a new poster for RED 2, director Dean Parisot’s sequel to the surprise-hit 2010 action-comedy loosely based on the DC Comics miniseries by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner.
Festival. RED — it’s an acronym for “retired, extremely dangerous” — centered on former CIA agents targeted for assassination because of the secrets they know. The Summit Entertainment follow-up reunites Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren as they face a new set of enemies in Europe in their global pursuit of a missing nuclear device. They’re joined by Brian Cox and new additions Anthony Hopkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee and Neal McDonough.
The first film, which was produced for about $60 million, grossed nearly $200 million worldwide. RED 2 opens Aug. 2.
